“Continuing to Grow the Economy in the New Year”

In this week’s address, President Obama shared his New Year’s resolution with the American people: to do whatever it takes to move the economy forward and make sure that middle class families regain the security they’ve lost in the last decade. This is why the President appointed Richard Cordray this week to lead the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to protect American consumers. And while we learned that the United States economy continues to add private sector jobs – with over 1.9 million created in 2011 – more needs to be done to move the economy forward. The President will also announce in this week’s address that he will host an “Insourcing American Jobs” forum at the White House on Wednesday to hear from business leaders who are bringing jobs back home and see how we can get others to follow their lead.

President Obama spoke today at Shaker Heights High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio about the economy and his appointment of Richard Cordray as the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau…
But when Congress refuses to act, and as a result, hurts our economy and puts our people at risk, then I have an obligation as President to do what I can without them. I’ve got an obligation to act on behalf of the American people. And I’m not going to stand by while a minority in the Senate puts party ideology ahead of the people that we were elected to serve. Not with so much at stake, not at this make-or-break moment for middle-class Americans. We’re not going to let that happen.
I haven’t had a lot (okay, anything) to say about the Iowa Republican caucuses because, well, I haven’t had anything to say about them. They don’t really mean a whole lot. President Mike Huckabee won them last time around. Seems, however, that they are taking place tonight and with 27% of precincts reporting, it is a three-way tie between Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.
My dream would be that Santorum, Romney or Paul would win this thing. Actually, I would be quite pleased if any of the candidates walked away with it. None of them possess the intelligence or the disposition to serve as President of the United States.
I cannot believe our media is wasting so much time and energy on these jesters.
Just my personal opinion.
P.S. I heard through the grapevine that Oral Roberts University (located in Tulsa, Oklahoma) offered three credit hours to any student who would volunteer to go to Iowa and work for Michele Bachmann. That’s quite a deal. Anybody now paying for college knows how much three credit hours can be worth, even from ORU.
