@ Rob: You don't need to worry about that "mean ol' billionaire," Rob. Even if he is asked to help out his country with a few more tax dollars, he still will not paying anywhere near the rate he would have been paying under Ronnie Reagan (had he been alive and paying taxes back then).

The viewing public has a salacious appetite for the absurd. Tiger Woods trumps media coverage while four police officers were gunned down. We are a celebrity-oriented society and that is at least part of the failure of people to be ill-informed on real issues. It is a pity.

Well, don’t worry…. that mean ol’ billionaire will be punished soon with higher taxes to pay for universal health coverage for people who like to stay home watching television.

Yeah, and most news programs I see have at least one story (many times the leading story!) about the “panic” over the H1N1 flu. If the media would shut up about it there would be no panic! I mean, seriously, how many stories do we need saying people need to get the flu shot but it’s not available yet?? There should be more news stories about the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act and the National Animal Identification System, but you never hear ANYTHING about these issues on the news. CPSIA could (make that HAS) shut down or severely hamper the operations of many (maybe most?) small and medium sized companies making products for children (google Rick Woldenburg, he’s got an awesome blog about it), and NAIS will be the end of the family farm as we know it (google “No NAIS”, there’s tons of sites about it).

Why was the “stimulus” money given to the banks and financial companies to begin with? The people who should’ve been given it were the ones who were losing their homes to foreclosure (and still are, thanks to the irresponsible banks giving huge bonuses to their greedy higher-ups instead of using it to free up the credit markets like they were SUPPOSED TO).
