No pledge for Will

Posted by Len on Monday, November 16th, 2009 at 3:00 pm CT in Politics

Have you heard of young Will Phillips? You should know about this kid. He’s one brave, intelligent and principled kid. It’s hard to believe that he’s only ten years old.

A columnist for the Arkansas News has stood up for Will and his right to refuse to recite the Pledge of Allegiance until there truly is liberty and justice for all. America needs more kids people like Will Phillips.

“With all due respect, ma’am, you can go jump off a bridge.” Wow. Just… wow.

P.S. In the event that the YouTube video disappears, as YouTube videos sometimes do, the original CNN video is here.

    Good for Will.

Who is the teacher to force him to stand and recite the pledge, anyway?

And exactly how much does a pledge mean when one is forced to say it? I’m generally against rote recitation of anything…

Amen to that! If you don’t believe in it, you shouldn’t say it. Reciting a pledge does not show how American you are. I’m not saying anything is wrong with saying the pledge of allegiance, quite the opposite. I just do not support empty words and promises.

That is one smart young man,
who is going to be a brilliant judge one day.
I can already see him working his way through
the mess standing up for His Rights.

Good For You Young Man – Bravo Len !
