Election 2009 recap
Condolences to the good people of New Jersey and Virginia. They chose to send Republicans to inhabit their governors’ mansions for the next four years and will now have to live with the consequences.
Congratulations to the folks in the 23rd Congressional District of New York. They dealt a serious blow to the extremist right wing of the Republican party (led by the likes of Sarah Palin, Tim Pawlenty, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh) and elected a Democrat to represent them in Congress for the first time since Reconstruction.
And, finally, deepest sympathies to the people of the state of Maine. Big money religion mythology, bigotry and discrimination won the day in their state as they overturned their Legislature and Governor and repealed a law granting equal rights to all their citizens. They cannot be happy this morning.
P.S. On a much more pleasant note, it appears that Referendum 71 is headed for victory in Washington state.

actually the right wingers cannot be happier. every race that win they are one step closer to dominating the working class again.
Right you are, what in the world were the Manlanders thinking….er, perhaps that’s it, they weren’t thinking.
Sandy
Regarding New Jersey and Virginia, they remind me of what I used to drum into my children. There are consequences to your actions.
Do you people actually believe the things that you say? I’ve lived in Jersey my whole life and it’s never been as bad as it is right now. Businesses and families have been leaving this state in droves over the last four years. We’ve been living “with the consequences” for nearly a decade now.
Take a look at the returns from this week’s election—-counties and districts that were once deep blue are either pink or glowing red. Down the Route 1 corridor of Middlesex and Monmouth counties turned out in droves for Christie, even made some inroads in the typically-blue Bergen county.
And Corzine is not a Blue Dog—he’s a Pelosi progressive. He embraced Obama and his policies…and now CORZINE is living with the consequences. This was not a referendum on Obama, but rather a statement about Democratic Party priorities, and New Jersey and Virginia said they were having none of that. The suburbs of New Jersey see what Pelosi/Reid/Obama have been doing and they’ve realized that they can’t afford it.
As a conservative, my advice to you libs is to please…PLEASE…push forward with government-backed health insurance. Pass the healthcare legislation please. I implore you. It will only help the Republican party.
Good luck with that…
