Elephant in the room
You may notice that the time stamp on this post is approaching a late evening hour. I honestly had no intent of posting today. Last night’s presidential address, I felt, gave us enough to think about for a day or two. I thought that others, both on the left and on the right, were doing a sufficient job of covering the Republicans’ efforts at justifying and rationalizing their childish and petulant behavior during last night’s presidential address. Then I happened into a room tonight where somebody had tuned the television to Keith Olbermann’s show. This segment caught my attention. You need to watch it…
Also see: “Joe Wilson apologized, but he doesn’t sound all that sorry.”
That is all. Have a pleasant evening.
P.S. Call me unpatriotic if you will, but I have no intention of posting photographs of burning towers or of people jumping out of them tomorrow.

It offends them when we say what’s really going on here: racism. It’s not fear of Liberalism or taxes or weak foreign policy–it’s the fact that the guy in the middle is illegitimately there.
While you and I see very differently on MANY things…..
I think during a speech such as this there is a level of respect that needs to be given after all he IS our president regardless if we like him or not. This was aired world wide and it only makes us look childish. Shut your mouth and speak later. However I think resigning is a bit much. There should how ever be some sort of consequence!
I was thinking it would be funny, and ironic, if later on it was shown that Obama was indeed a liar and did extend health coverage to illegal immigrants. I wonder if this video would resurface as prophetic?
@Rob
We exend the basic human decency of health care to illegal immigrants now. If they show up at a hospital or clinic, with a medical emergency, they are taken care of (as are US citizens with no insurance) and all of us with insurance pay for it through higher premiums.
Obama is talking about not allowing them to enroll in any type of national health-insurance program if they can’t prove citizenship. The goal, I would imagine, is to get them to at least apply to become legal, tax-paying citizens with the benefit of affordable health-care coverage. As things stand now, there’s no real incentive for them to do that.
I think it would be funny and ironic if, later on, President Obama extended government health-care coverage to abortion-on-demand.
And golly, no, I don’t think the Republicans would ever try to use this to make President Obama look bad. They’ve proven over and over again that they want only to help him find solutions to the issues he faces.
Wilson looks like he is about to have a heart attack. Lots of stress evident in his voice and demeanor. He disgraced his Office.
The entire health care reform debate has become so tiresome. The town hall disruptions were the end of it for me.
“Doug” had this rather astute observation on Rep. Wilson:
And no wonder.
As if that weren’t enough, there’s a campaign abroad to call on the House to censure Rep. Wilson for such conduct.
These Neo-Cons just cannot get over the FACT that we have a Liberal BLACK Man for President.
WOW, seriously people get over the race thing!
WOW, seriously, Jenn, when there is no more racism in this country, we’ll all gladly get over it. If you think you don’t know any racists you are either delusional enough to need psychiatric intervention and drug therapy, or you live in a cave somewhere and this blog is the only thing you read.
@mrsbitch
Actually the only racist people I know are the ones screaming that racism still exists. I’d love to know you’re race…but considering you’re screaming racism we will assume your not white. It seems that nowadays every time a person who is not white doesn’t get their way they scream the race card. I was recently at the mall and a woman didn’t have a receipt to return a piece of jewelry. When the cashier told her she couldn’t return it without a receipt the woman started screaming the cashier was racist. Actually it was poilcy but I see it all the time.
Oh….and isn’t Obama half white anyways????
Back @Jenn
So, according to your impeccable logic, only people of color still believe that racism exists in this country. I am going to make my own assumption that you never graduated from 8th grade.
Race has been brought up in each of your posts, yet you continue to say that racism isn’t an issue. You make an assumption regarding my race. Then you say that every time a person of color doesn’t get their way they “scream the race card” (btw, you talk about screaming a lot — do you need to see a doctor?). I would say that you are more obsessed about race and probably a whole lot more bigoted than you will ever admit… oh, wait, I forgot, white people aren’t racist. I’m such a goose!
