Official portrait

The official portrait of President Barack Obama was released today. It was taken by newly announced White House photographer Pete Souza and is the first official presidential portrait to be taken with a digital camera.

You can see the portrait below. Click on it to make it bigger. (Unless you have a really big monitor, you will probably need to click on the downward pointing arrow that will appear in the bar at the bottom of your browser window in order to view it in its original size.)

Not a bad picture, though he could have used a little more light on his left side. Of course, after years of walking through offices with Presidential pictures on the walls, you stop looking closely at them. I still think the photo of him standing in front of the Capitol building is his best portrait yet. I think I’ve used that image three times now in different articles.

This is worth keeping so we can compare his hair coloration “before” and “after” a term in office. I’m betting he will be showing a LOT of grey. I think he is greying just “a little” already.

@Election Issues Today : There is no doubt that the office will age him. We are not an easy country to be in charge of. And just look at the mess he’s inheriting.

This is the picture that is going to be on display in all the federal offices, so it’ll be around for a while.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s totally gray by the time eight years is up (assuming he serves that long). He’s already shown quite a bit of age just in two years of campaigning.

@Andy : Granted that the office tends to age a person, but let’s remember that our soon-to-be president is still a relatively young man. He’s only 47 years old. In eight years he’ll be 55.

But time will tell, I guess. He has some mighty stressful times ahead of him.

That’s it … time to elect bald people!

sure, such a position would age anyone. however, there is such a thing called just for MEN! lol

He is gorgeous, look at that smile! OMG! You can just read over a thousand words from this picture. If intellegence had a look; this would be it. Thank you for sharing the link :)

Great picture and I think we are in for a wonderful change. If you notice since we are all talking about graying hair … President Clinton’s first picture and then look at his last picture when he left the White House. I guess if we were the leader of the free world we would all be gray. But I must admit with Whateverebay he’s a fine looking man.

Great picture! I’m surprised he’s not smiling though. He looks firm and honest in this pic, unlike the pic of Bush. Does he know he looks like a monkey?

    Where is his Superman cape?

    @Paul – Political Conservatives :

    Where is his Superman cape?

Dunno. You’d think he’d at least have worn it for his official portrait, wouldn’t you?

And they could have at least done some photoshop on those ears.

@Paul – Political Conservatives : Classy, Paul. Real classy.

Not to worry. You’ve got the next eight years to grow accustomed to “those ears.”
