Hooligans

Posted by Len on Thursday at 7:20 pm in Election 2008, Politics, Republicans

The following video is from a McCain-Palin campaign rally in Ohio earlier today. You need to watch it. What you will see and hear is truly amazing.

(Either JavaScript is not active or you are using an old version of Adobe Flash Player. Please install the newest Flash Player.)

While it is true that the “gentleman” at the beginning of the video was extremely rude and very disrespectful toward a candidate for the presidency of the United States, that is not what stands out about this video. What stands out is that John McCain stood there and accepted the rudeness and the disrespect. He even laughed about it and then told the man that he was right. What stands out is the reaction of the audience. They thought it was downright hilarious that this man was standing there and shouting at (and interrupting) a United States Senator and a candidate for the presidency of our country. They actually responded with shouts of “USA, USA, USA!” They were proud of the “gentleman” and they were proud of themselves. John McCain accepted this abuse with a giggle and a smile!

This is the kind of spite and hatred that John McCain and Sarah Palin inspire and even encourage. This is what has become of the Republican party. It isn’t pretty.

Then Mrs. Palin appears. She again tries to blame the “mainstream media” for her inability to answer the questions put to her in recent interviews. Here, as unbelievable as it may be, is what she actually said. It’s in the video.

It’s questions like that that lead us to be frustrated and impatient, also, and you know, I can’t pick a fight with those that buy ink by the barrel full. So you guys are gonna have to start asking the questions even more adamantly also, and holding people accountable, when they’re in a position also, to get those answers from the opponent. And I know, you know, it’s dangerous territory whenever I suggest that mainstream media, perhaps, isnt asking all the questions. You guys have to help us do that.

(Again, I’ll just interject here that being a writer for Saturday Night Live has to be the easiest job on the planet right now.)

What exactly are the questions that Mrs. Palin believes are not being asked and answered? It would be nice to know. She never says. But she wants her rabid supporters to ask those questions (whatever they may be) “more adamantly.”

Just watch the video. It truly is amazing, if not downright sad, to witness the depths to which our Republican party has sunk. There was a time you could respect Republicans, even though you disagreed with them. That time has passed. They no longer even respect themselves. How can they expect to receive any respect from anyone else?

Believe me, my friends, this is only going to get uglier as Election Day draws closer and Johnny, Sarah and the Republicans grow even more desperate and hateful. The respectful campaign based on the issues that Johnny McCain promised us is now a long lost memory. This ain’t gonna be pretty. Thankfully it will be over in a few weeks.

Meanwhile, the Republicans are really hoping you won’t notice that the Dow plunges 679 for 6th triple-digit loss in a row. Over two trillion dollars in retirement savings have been lost. But they don’t want to talk about that. It doesn’t “fit their agenda” right now. Wow. Just… wow.

Well, he is right. Pelosi and Reid have been down right terrible, and their leadership has been impotent over the past two years. I would have to see the beginning of the video in context. I’m assuming they are passing the mic around, and he started off with an introductory statement before the video begins. I highly doubt McCain or Obama would/should have stopped the gentleman since he was speaking with passion and electrifying the crowd, which is what these events are all about.

This is one of many similar videos found on YouTube of the McCain/Palin Camp rallys in the last few days. There is an underlying similarity with the people in the audience throughout these rallys. I sense a collective of “White Power” influence resonating. If I was in that audience - I have this profound uneasiness that these people may turn on me and begin a lynching.

Also , is it me or did I see several Heil Hitler salute in the video?
    (just my opinion).

@U.S. Common Sense : And thank you for so perfectly enforcing my point. I appreciate it.

I seriously doubt that Senator Obama would have countenanced that kind of disrespect toward either himself or his audience. Senator McCain welcomed it with a giggle and a smile. That, my friend, is not leadership. There is no justification for the actions of either Republican candidate today.

    Period.

The reason McCain takes the abuse is because he knows it’s true. He knows that if he says something he’ll have to speak and we all know the only thing McCain can speak is “I was in the war, I know what it’s like to have hope..”. McCain cannot win, he is quite clearly rich and doesn’t have peoples interests at heart. At least Obama knows what it’s like to be poor and have nothing.

Great post, especially the inclusion of the cartoon. While SNL and other satirists are enjoying the faux pas’ of Palin, it’s frightening to think that there are many who find her style to be “folksy” rather than an indication of her lack of knowledge and therefore identify with her to the point that they’ll vote for the “Palin” ticket. McCain’s latest Freudian malaprops in which he called Americans his “fellow prisoners” is equally alarming.

This is a crowd of very confused people. It’s sad. My heart goes out to them. One gets the sense of how lynchings happen when watching this.

I just received the following link in an email. Would you want to post it for your readers?

    Hey Everyone,
    Please read the following:

PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is
qualified. Apparently the right wing knew about this
in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.

The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by
mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters
    in swing states.

Please do two things — takes 20 seconds.

    1) Click on link and vote yourself.

    Here’s the link:
    http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html

    2) Then send this to every single Obama-Biden voter
you know, and urge them to vote and pass it on.

The last thing we need is for PBS to say their viewers think Sarah
Palin in qualified in any way, let alone to be Vice President.
Please pass this link on to everyone you know.

    peace….

The old man is right. Socialist “hooligans” are taking over this country. He just forgot to mention that McCain is one of them too. See McCain’s Mortgage Bailout Plan

Wellll Sarah Palin, I’ve heard quite a few questions asked of you that you have refused to answer. :-)
