White Powder Found At Two McCain Offices

(CBS) Threatening letters containing an unidentified white powder have been received at John McCain’s campaign offices in Denver, Colorado, and Manchester, New Hampshire, CBS News has learned.

McCain’s campaign office in Denver received a letter containing a threat and “an amount of white powder in it,” a McCain campaign spokesman told CBS News’ Michelle Levi.

“We immediately notified local and federal law enforcement agencies and are looking to cooperate with them,” spokesman Jeff Sadosky said.

Another McCain spokesperson later said that McCain’s New Hampshire office “received a similar letter.”

The city of Denver is at a heightened security level, as the Secret Service and other officials prepare for the Democratic National Convention, which is set to begin on Monday.

If true, I hope the catch the sicko quickly. Suffice it to say, however, that I kind of question the timing. (What with the beating Johnny McCain is taking over his seven to ten houses and all today. (See earlier post.))

Update:

Threat letter with powder sent to Fla. governor

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida authorities are investigating a threatening letter sent to Gov. Charlie Crist that contained a suspicious but nontoxic white powder.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement spokeswoman Heather Smith says the letter was intercepted Wednesday at the mail center at the state capitol.

Hmmmm…

Okay – I must admit that my first reaction to the headline before reading the text was – hmmm – white powder? Are they trying to say that McCain is a coke-head now?

Anyway – there are some major sickos out there. Considering it was also sent to Charlie Crist here in FL – I would say they are probably linked and it originated out of Florida. It wouldn’t surprise me at all. After all, Jerry Springer recruited almost all of his guests from this whack-job state!

Brilliant diversion tactic by Karl Rove, in my opinion, and yet even on Saturday there is little mention of this but STILL talk about the houses of the candidates on the news.
