Happy Fifth of July
What did you do for Independence Day? Hope you had a good time. We stayed in pretty much all day as it was too hot to venture out, then after sunset we joined what seemed to be thousands and thousands of our Dallas neighbors for the fireworks show at Fair Park. The city managed to put on quite a show, but DANG it was noisy!
The Future First Family spent the day in Butte, Montana…

That’s a great photograph, isn’t it? I love that photograph.

It is a great photograph.
Can’t wait for someone from Faux-News to say that Barack’s flag was tilting a little to the left and that Michelle was brandishing a water bottle instead of a flag!
@Mo : Actually, I think Sen. Obama’s flag is tilting just a bit to his right.
God I pray that Obama does not get to be president :
If this should happen its the end of the world as we know it ?
I think this is a great picture and to be exact its kinda impossible for his flag to have been straight since he was clapping. I would love for Sen. Obama to become president. GRACIAS NOS.
@No Democrats Ever :
Gosh, I sure hope so!
Thanks
Happy 6th of July
My family had a great 4th! We took our daughter (2 yrs old) to a music festival in the morning where she danced like crazy and we bought her a t-shirt that says “Barack Obama is my Hero.” When we went home for her nap, I was very pleased to see that President Douchebag got heckled by a group of patriots at the home of Thomas Jefferson, a great man who has spent the last 7 years turning in his grave. Later that night, we went and saw some amazing fireworks which scared the bejesus out of my daughter.
When I see the levels of fear and loathing from the right wing bloggers over their massive losses this November, it brings true joy to my heart!
I’ll be very proud to be an American when this guy becomes our president!

All, it’s Sunday and I’m catching up on comments for the week. This is in response to your comment on my post: Declaration of Independence.
Henson–Thanks for sharing that…like I said to you earlier this week, I had the chance to see the Declaration of Independence on Display at the National Archives. It was one of those moments in life when you’re so close to something so important it’s not just like touching history, but it’s like a wormhole connection to another place and time–while in the course of major world events, very few will be able to recognize their importance at the time, but through the the proximity to just a document like this, it really takes you to that moment in time, to that place, to that moment that really changed the world in the most significant of ways.
Crazy Working Mom–Et tu!
Len–like I said earlier to you, I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for our troops in Iraq. They really must be wondering what they are fighting for, because it’s not their freedom, our freedom, or even the Iraqis freedom. I really wish we could bring them home and they could enjoy the fireworks–even on a 98 degree night.
Mrs. Mecomber–great point…Especially after the breakup of the Former Soviet Union, there are a lot of countries in the world out there a lot younger than we are, even if their culture might still be a little bit our senior.
Kimmie–anytime you want to talk about Detroit just let me know. I’m heading back to Detroit this Thursday for four days. I’ll also check out your blog. Ken’s stuff is amazing. I’m glad you found your way here via Ken.
Cheers!
Wow…see, here’s what gets me. I dig the guy, and a lot of what he says. But pictures like this just serve to remind me that he is a POLITICIAN and my trust level goes down a bit. I start thinking, “How long ago were those girl’s outfits planned? Do they coordinate wardrobe on heavy press days? Do things like that make them less “real” each time they have to go through something like that?
/ramble
Just a couple of thoughts. Anyhoo, I dig your blog.
