Johnny gets new wings
Whatever money problems Johnny McCain may have had seem to now be a thing of the past. He just bought himself a brand new airplane. (Well, new to the McCain campaign, anyway. It’s a Boeing 737-400. Boeing delivered the last of this model in early 2000; the first was delivered in 1988.)
The New York Times reports:
The more deluxe accommodations of the plane, which will seat 95 and was paid for by the campaign, will be far different from the less grand Straight Talk bus with alternator problems that the campaign turned to after it nearly ran out of money about a year ago, and even from the Jet Blue charter that his campaign has used in this campaign.
There will be 10 first-class seats up front for Mr. McCain and his guests, as well as a telephone and a fax machine. The journalists who will sit in the back, behind the Secret Service agents, are promised electrical outlets.
And mindful of the lighting issues that have kept Mr. McCain from holding many news conferences on the old plane, the new area will be television-ready. It will be wired for microphones, have specialty lighting and have room for a television camera.
Very nice indeed. Perhaps Johnny and Cindy can keep it and use it to fly between their numerous houses after the campaign is over. (The White House, fortunately for us, will not be one of them.)

Bwahahaha! I don’t know - the more people get to know Obama - the more they realize this country is not ready for socialism and marxism!
Anyway - if I recall, McCain is using public financing for his campaign. If this is the way he spends his money - I’d hate to see how he’s going to handle that budget when he does get in the White House. Whatever happened to the days of campaigning from the back of pick-up trucks and trains? I have to admit this is just plain (plane - get it?) ridiculous!

@The BoBo:
You just keep harping on that socialism and marxism stuff. Eventually, somebody will believe you. By the way, what, in your view, constitutes “socialism and marxism” and how do we get it? I mean, it’s gotta work better than what we got now, right?
Please, PULEEEEZEEE, PLEEEAAASEEE be right about the White House not being one of them.
I, too, hope the White House isn’t one of them.
And I also have concerns - if his campaign is publicly financed, then our tax dollars bought this behemoth?
Do the contributors know their money gets pissed away like this?
Seriously, Len? You guys don’t see it? He is pushing social issues having the government control every aspects of our lives - socialized Health Care which is a proven to be failed system based on rationing; the elimination of capitalism through higher corporate taxes which will force the small business to shutter their businesses; socialized oil which will do nothing but increase prices at the pump since the Dems refuse to tap our own resources; cap & trade carbon offsets which is nothing more than wealth redistribution (Marxism at its finest) based on junk science that is currently being discredited by 31,000 scientists around the globe; forced conservation eliminating America’s greatest asset - freedom of choice; elimination of school vouchers - choosing a failed public education system - it was Marx who said control the childrens’ minds and they will work for the state. Need I continue? He has clearly stated he takes all these positions I have stated.
As a scholar in public health - I have studied the social health systems in Canada, England, Cuba, and Oregon. They are failed systems in that healthcare is based on 2 systems - the political elite - and the rest of the people. The politicians get the top-notch health care while the peoples of the nations (and Oregon) get healthcare based on a rationing system. They actually have protocols as to who may and may not receive care. The elderly are left to die and go untreated because they are too old and it would be a drain on the social funding. Sick newborns are left untreated to die because they may not survive any way. If you smoke or are obese, you receive less care. If you smoke or are obese any surgical interventions regardless of the ailment (minor or major) is denied because they are not fit. Oregon has the only socialized healthcare system in this country right now and it is failing miserably. A woman just died there recently because they failed to treat her cancer because chemo would cost too much and would take funding away from those less sick than her.
This is the system that Obama wants. He admitted in his own book Dreams of my father: A story of race and inheritance that he chose his friends carefully and associated himself with marxist professors while in college. So, he made a concerted effort there. I’m hoping that you guys on your side will start to really look in to his past and see that he is not what this country needs (I don’t think McCain is either)..but..I certainly do not want to see us heading towards a form of government that has proven time and again to fail.
