English, por favor
Bush: Sing National Anthem In English A Spanish-language version of the “Star-Spangled Banner?”
“I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English,” President Bush told reporters Friday, “and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English, and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English,” he said.
Mr. Bush’s statement might carry a little more weight if he himself would learn to speak English. I am not sure most of the time which language he is speaking, but I’m pretty sure it is not English.
I know this will come as a shock to some people, but for once I agree with The Doofus. Our national anthem should be sung in English, and people who want to become citizens of the United States really should learn to speak English.
This may be the last time I ever agree with George, so savor it while you may.

I remember the time Jon Stewart had the President speaking spanish to a crowd - and then compared it to him speaking english to a crowd. The difference was, of course, completely hilarious.
I am savoring it, and I too agree - for once.
You are so ridiculous to keep harping on this, President Bush never claimed to be a English major and just because he doesn’t speak perfect English you don’t need to continue to blast him for it. It has nothing to do with lack of intelligence, after all he had better grades than a certain other Democrat Senator from Mass. who graduated from the same Yale University.
I am so disappointed, Scott. Here I thought I would get some points for agreeing with your idol, but instead I get called ridiculous for merely alluding to something everybody knows: the man cannot speak English.
Excuse me, I’m going to go cry myself to sleep now.
The problem with Bush is not his grasp of the English language, it is his habit of stating the obvious.
For example the other day when he was speaking at the Renewable Fuels Association, he said, “The truth of the matter is the long-term strategy is to power our automobiles with something other than oil.”
Sure grammatical error or two. And lord knows I make my own grammatical mistakes. The problem for me was when he finished that statement with, “Something other than gasoline which is derived from oil.”
Thanks Capitan Obvious.
You are being ridiculous for continuing to insult the President just because you have a problem with him not speaking perfect English. You don’t just allude to what you think about the President, you continue to insult the man just because you think he should be speaking perfect English all the time. Do you do this to every person you come in contact with in your life?I would hope not, but I guess you just might.
Scott, for goodness sake, lighten up. You know full well what I think of George W. Bush. I think he is an ignorant, spoiled, rich frat boy who has had never had to work for anything a day in his life. Everything he has has been handed to him, including the presidency of this country.
If you keep coming here expecting me to sing praises to The Doofus, perhaps you should not come here anymore. It’s quite obvious you don’t like me, so why do you persist in coming here? (Just curious.)
