Mark Noonan reports that…
We of the GOP are generally delighted with the election of Howard Dean as head of the DNC.
Thanks, Mark, and congratulations on your appointment as national GOP spokesperson.
We’re delighted, too.
Now, refresh my memory again… Who’s that kid y’all have calling the shots over at the RNC?

From an e-mail written by one of the authors of Time Magazine’s Blog of the Year:
You dumb shit, he didn’t get access using a fake name, he used his real name. You lefties’ concern for White House security is really touching, but you know what, you stupid asshole, I think the Secret Service has it covered. Go crawl back into your hole, you stupid left-wing shithead. And don’t bother us anymore. You have to have an IQ over 50 to correspond with us. You don’t qualify, you stupid shit.
(Source)
Just reeks of class, doesn’t it? Actually, I think he has things kind of backwards. It would appear that an IQ below 50 would be the major requirement to correspond with these folks.
Update: In the spirit of fairness, click here for Hindrocket’s explanation of the reason he sent the above e-mail. I offer it without comment.

The photograph now making the rounds of several right-wing weblogs:

Just a wee bit of a difference, wouldn’t you say?

While reading the usual suspects this morning, this sentence captured my attention:
I can’t think of anything more damaging to a political system than to be utterly dominated by one side…
Given the current state of government in the United States, you would think that this sentence was written by a Democrat. You would be wrong.
Amazingly enough, it was written by a wingnut, who then goes on to fulfill his duties as a wingnut and declare his hatred of all things Democratic.
I’m having too much fun. Somebody stop me, please.

I hit upon BlogsForTerri and my first thought is “How dare they?”
How dare all these people presume to insert themselves where they do not belong?
I am sorry that this young lady’s family is dysfunctional to the point that they cannot deal with her death. I am sorry that Jeb Bush decided, in all his omnipotent wisdom, to make her death a political issue.
There was a disagreement between Terri’s husband and her parents. They took it to court and the court issued a ruling. It should have ended there. It didn’t because one side did not get the ruling they wanted so they went public. Now millions of people are involving themselves in what should be a very private family matter.
The death of a loved one is never easy to deal with. I can only imagine how much more difficult it must be when people decide to use it for political advantage.

George W. Bush traveled to New Hampshire yesterday to tout his plan to dismantle Social Security. There were 2,000 free tickets available for the event — only 1,000 people showed up.
The Boston Herald reports…
And those who did come gave Bush a welcome that paled in comparison to his fall campaign rallies.
Mr. Bush was not bothered by the proletariat’s lack of enthusiasm…
“I’m going to continue traveling over and over and over again, making it clear to the American people we have a problem,” the president said.
He’s going to continue traveling over and over and over again until he convinces us that we have a problem. I think we Americans are well aware that we have a problem. It goes by the name of George W. Bush.
The trip to New Hampshire was not a total loss. The Green Man did manage to get his picture taken with a couple of the local kids…

Right Side of the Rainbow is a weblog you should check out if you haven’t. Paul is a gay Republican, and I will never ever understand gay Republicans, but still… he puts a lot of work into his weblog and it is deserving of your attention.
Yesterday, he tackled the issue of gay marriage. His essay is very interesting and I am not doing it justice by selecting just one segment to quote here. You should click the link and read his entire post.
This sentence, early on in the post, caught my eye…
I suggested that if you made divorce all but impossible to get and prosecuted adultery as a crime, you wouldn’t find many gay men interested in getting married.
Know what? If you made divorce all but impossible to get and prosecuted adultery as a crime, I seriously doubt you find many heterosexual men interested in getting married.
Anyway… go read his post. Leave a comment. He’s earned it.

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld when asked yesterday about the number of insurgents in Iraq:
“I am not going to give you a number for it because it’s not my business to do intelligent work.” (source)
Thanks, but we’d pretty much figured that out already.

John H. Hinderaker of Power Line called former President Jimmy Carter a traitor in a post dated February 2, 2005.
Jimmy Carter isn’t just misguided or ill-informed. He’s on the other side.
This may have simply a case of youthful exuberance on the part of Mr. Hinderacker after he read this article in the right-wing Moonie rag called The Washington Times. Then again, Mr. Hinderacker may actually have in his possession indisputable proof that Jimmy Carter has committed treason against the United States of America.
Either way, this is a very serious charge, particulary when made against a former President. I sincerely hope that both the Secret Service and the FBI are investigating.

First a pair of his boxer shorts go for $5,000 and now somebody coughs up $96,000 for his rocking chair.
There seems to be no accounting for common sense sometimes, eh?
