I’ve been saying for a long time that I do not like George W. Bush. I just realized that is probably not true. If we knew each other in person, we could probably be friends. He is probably a good man, and probably believes strongly in what he is doing.
The sad fact is that he does not belong where he now is. He is not strong enough, willful enough, intelligent enough to be the leader of the “free world.” He is too easily swayed by those around him.
I believe he’d be much happier managing a professional baseball team.

The administration of George W. Bush has most definately earned its place in history.
History is a harsh judge, and I dare say the actions of this group of people will not be judged kindly.
I had a big entry written here about how the government of the United States no longer represents the people of the United States, but I erased it because I fear that it does. At least some of the people.
George finally has the war he has so desparately wanted for so long.

I do not agree with any comparison of Hussein to Hitler. Any more than I would agree with any comparison of Bush to Roosevelt or Churchill.

There is one consolation in all this. Next year is an election year. Unless the Bush machine cancels it in the interest of “homeland security.” They have, for all intents and purposes, rewritten the Constitution. Canceling an election would be small potatoes.
Despite the fact that my country will likely be at war in less than 24 hours, I must now go to bed. War or no war, I still have to go to work tomorrow. The search for new employment continues, though I am a far cry from being the “recent college graduate” that most companies are seeking.

Read this. (Thanks, Nick, for the link.)
Let’s face facts, shall we? If any other heads of state were to do what George W. Bush is about to do, we Americans would be demanding their heads on a stick. Why do so many blindly follow this man?

I would like to echo the sentiments of The Sinister Sister. She wrote the following, addressing it to Presidents George W. Bush and Saddam Hussein…
“May peace and love reign in your hearts. Think of all the innocent lives at stake, think of all the heartache that the loss of these lives will cause. Think of all who would be orphaned, widowed and homeless. May you come up to the realization of what great responsibility you both have in your hands. And may we all wake up to the miracle of a world without war, 48 hours from now.”
I cannot shake the feeling that what we have here are two huge egos at odds with each other, and they will soon plunge the world into the darkness of war.

So Bush and Company has given Saddam and Sons 48 hours to pack up and get out of town.
Can’t see it happening.
Where would they go? (Didn’t think of that now, did you, George? It’s not like they own a few penthouses in Paris or any such place. Really!)
I wonder. What would George’s reaction be if some other country called him up and told him he had 48 hours to get out of this country or face an attack? Probably something like “I was called by God to lead this here country, and by cracky that’s what I’m gonna do so long as there is one American left standin’!”
By cracky?

A personal note from an employee of our government:
Does opposing this war make you anti-American? Does not wanting your government to make what you perceive as a heinous mistake mean you love your country any less?
Just asking.
(Note to the baggage screener who placed this note in this person’s bag: You are a person who gets paid to snoop through the dirty underwear of other persons. Seriously, now, how many bombs have you found? Did you really think that this person was going to give a flipping damn whether or not you approve of his “attitude”?)
And the show goes on…
Radio stations nationwide are boycotting the Dixie Chicks, even though Maines publicly apologized for telling a London audience last Monday: “Just so you know, we’re ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.”
Just so you know, I’m not particulary fond of him either. I think I’m going to go out and buy every Dixie Chicks album I can get my hands on. That’ll show ‘em, yes it will. How ridiculous and petty are we becoming?

On March 2nd, I wrote that I would give it two weeks. Doesn’t look like I’ll be missing it by much…
LAJES, Azores, March 16 — President Bush and the leaders of Britain and Spain issued an ultimatum to the United Nations Security Council today, declaring that the diplomatic effort to win support for disarming Iraq would end on Monday. They made it clear that they were ready to start a war to depose Saddam Hussein, with or without the endorsement of the United Nations.
For all you people that have been whoopin’ and hollerin’ for this war to start, I really hope it turns out the way you seem to think it will.

Is “You suck, and not in a good way” an acceptable phrase to write in an employee review? If not, then the reviews I wrote during the wee hours of Saturday morning will probably be coming back from human resources with a few suggested revisions.
The s/o starts his new position tomorrow. He is not sure what his hours will be, but for the first couple of weeks he will be training from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The idiot is sitting in the other room right now watching I Love Lucy reruns. He loves that show. I’m trying to get him to go to bed, but he’s refusing to budge. Guess who’s going to hate himself in the morning?
