If you are one of those who has not experienced the joys of unemployment recently, have heart… your turn is coming. Remember, the Republicans are in charge now. Meanwhile, since you are still employed, here is a guide to assist you in selecting the perfect gift for your unemployed friends this holiday season.
My heart goes out to the employees of United Airlines who have lost or are about to lose their jobs. I, too, worked for an airline that went bankrupt. In fact, it was one of the first. The difference is that in those days bankruptcy meant you were out of business and everybody went home. These days, you can declare your company bankrupt and continue doing business.
Wouldn’t it be nice, just for once, to hear about a company reducing costs by doing something other than laying off employees or cutting their salaries and benefits? Wouldn’t it be nice, just for once, to hear about a company reducing costs by eliminating a few executives, or slashing their salaries and benefits? This is not likely to occur, however. Remember, the Republicans are in charge now.

With the help of Amazon.com and Fairytale Brownies, my Christmas shopping is, for the most part, completed. I did not even have to leave the house. This is a good thing, because I do not do well with crowds. I hate shopping malls, and driving in this city is just downright scary. I try to drive as little as possible.
On the way to work the other day I was driving through an intersection where I had the green light. An idiot in a red Honda Accord was approaching the intersection on my left. He had the red light. Luckily, I spotted him in time and could see that he had no intention of stopping for the light, as he was zipping along at about 50 miles per hour. I swerved and slammed on my brakes. He missed me by about two inches. He flipped me the bird and continued on his reckless way. He flipped me the bird! Here is this idiot who runs a red light, and, had it not been for my quick action, would likely have killed us both, and he flips me the bird. I was too stunned to even react. I just pulled my car over to the shoulder and sat there for a few minutes, willing my heart out of my throat.
I am sure this moron is going to kill somebody, and likely himself in the process, someday. I am just thanking my lucky stars that on that particular day it was not me.
Got off on a tangent… where was I? Oh, yeah, I don’t like to drive in this town.
I still have a few gifts left to purchase for a few local people, like the s/o and his mother. I haven’t fully decided on what to get the s/o. There’s a bit of time left for that, though.
I changed colors again. Decided the place needed brightening up a bit. This bright enough for you?
