Palin’s paparazzi

I found this article by Brian Montopoli of CBS News absolutely hilarious…

Sarah Palin’s bus tour treats reporters like paparazzi

Sarah Palin and her advisers are refusing to tell members of the media where she is going on her current bus tour – and the former Alaska governor seems to be enjoying the cat and mouse game that’s resulted.

“I don’t think I owe anything to the mainstream media … I want them to have to do a little bit of work on a tour like this, and that would include not necessarily telling them beforehand where every stop’s going to be,” she told fellow Fox News employee Greta Van Susteren in an interview from the bus…

Since Palin and her team won’t share where the potential candidate is headed, reporters and producers have little choice but to simply stay close to Palin’s bus. This has resulted in scenes of the Palin bus tooling down the highway followed by a caravan of 10 or 15 vehicles all trying to make sure they don’t lose sight of the Palin bus.

It adds up to a dangerous situation, says CBS News Producer Ryan Corsaro.

“I just hope to God that one of these young producers with a camera whose bosses are making them follow Sarah Palin as a potential Republican candidate don’t get in a car crash, because this is dangerous,” he said.

Corsaro asked a member of Palin’s team if he thought it was dangerous to have reporters forced to chase her from stop to stop. “You’re the ones that are trailing us,” he replied.

The solution to your problem, Mr. Montopoli, is painfully obvious and ridiculously simple. Stop following her around. You all are chasing after her as if she were a bitch in heat and you are a bunch of horny mutts. Think about it. You are pursuing a woman with no credentials or credibility whatsoever who will never, ever be anything more than she is right now. She served a term as mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska and could not even finish a term as governor of tiny Alaska – a state whose entire population is less than the town in which I live. She knows nothing about national, let alone international, affairs. What she says means nothing to anybody except apparently you and the ignorant extreme right wing lemmings who worship her. Just stop following her. Stop giving her the attention she craves. Just stop.

We don’t care. She isn’t news. What she says or does is not news. We do not need to know what she had for breakfast this morning or how many times she peed today. Stop wasting your time and ours. Move on to something or somebody that actually matters.

Please.

I have to confess that I got a kick out this AP headline and the article that accompanied it…

Palin center stage in politics, but what of 2012?

Sarah Palin is proof positive that, even in these troubled times when our country is striving mightily to recover from eight years of Republican governance, the citizens of the United States of America still have a healthy sense of humor.

Sarah Palin, the former half-term governor of Alaska and unsuccessful Republican vice presidential candidate, was the guest on “Fox News Sunday With Chris Wallace” this morning. Wallace asked her if she is still thinking of running for president in 2012. Here is her reply:

You know, it really comes down to it not being about me or what I want or what I predict is going to happen. This is all about what the voters of America are in the mood for.

And if the voters of America are in the mood for a kind of unconventional, candid, honest public servant, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be me, but if that’s what they’re in the mood for, they’re going to let that be known and they’re going to help really propel and push that candidate forward. And then that candidate, of course, will make the decision whether to run or not. Don’t know if that’s going to be me, Chris. …

As I’ve always said, I’m not going to close any door that perhaps would be open. But you know, this is not about me. But I do appreciate the platform that I’ve been given, the opportunities that I have to be out there speaking to these good, hard-working, average, everyday, patriotic Americans who want to see the positive change in our country that they deserve.

Run, Sarah, run!

She was pulling $125,000 per year as governor of Alaska. Then Johnny McCain yanked her out of the wilderness to be his running mate. The lady has raked in over $12,000,000 in the past ten months.

Sarah Palin Has Earned an Estimated $12 Million Since July

Pundits can debate the political costs and benefits of Sarah Palin’s decision to step down as Alaska governor, but the monetary advantages of leaving her $125,000-a-year public service post are beyond dispute.

Since leaving office at the end of July 2009, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee has brought in at least 100 times her old salary – a haul now estimated at more than $12 million — through television and book deals and a heavy schedule of speaking appearances worth five and six figures.

That conservative estimate is based on publicly available records and news accounts. The actual number is probably much higher, but is hard to quantify because Palin does not publicize her earnings.

I wonder if Johnny is getting a cut.
