President Obama is David Letterman’s guest on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight (11:35 p.m. Eastern, 10:35 p.m. Central). The show, of course, was taped earlier this afternoon. CBS released this advance video, in which the President and Mr. Letterman discuss Mitt Romney’s 47% remarks.

Also, speaking of television, did you catch tonight’s episode of The New Normal? Powerful stuff. Unfortunately, probably just a little too close to reality. (If you watched it, you know which scene I am referring to.)

Mitt Romney held a meeting with his millionaire and billionaire peers earlier this year. Unbeknownst to him, a camera was rolling the entire time he was speaking to this group. In case you have not read about it or seen the videos, I would encourage you to click on over to this Mother Jones article. The real Mitt Romney introduces himself and reveals what he really thinks of nearly half of America…

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what… These are people who pay no income tax.

My job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

If you plan on voting in this year’s elections (and I hope you do), you owe it to yourself to see who the Republican nominee really is. Please click on the link above.

UPDATE: Mitt Romney complained that his remarks were taken out of context. He wishes whoever released the video would have released the whole thing so people could understand what he really said. Seems his wish is Mother Jones’ command. The full video may be viewed at this link.

“Carrying on the Work of Our Fallen Heroes”

From the White House weblog:

President Obama speaks about the tragic loss of four of our fellow Americans who were serving in our diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya. These Americans represented the best of our country; without people like them, we could not sustain our freedoms or security, or provide the leadership that the entire world depends on. During this time of turmoil in many different countries, the President makes it clear that the United States has a profound respect for people of all faiths, but as Commander in Chief, he will never tolerate efforts to harm our fellow Americans and will ensure that those who attack our people find no escape from justice. Now, we must carry on the work of our fallen heroes by making our country stronger, our citizens safer, and the world a better and more hopeful place.

Attack in Benghazi

By now you will have heard the news of the attack on our embassy in Benghazi, Libya and the loss of four American lives in that attack — including the United States Ambassador to Libya. Here is President Obama’s statement on that attack.

Some of you may have witnessed Mitt Romney’s race to the microphones this morning to issue his own statement. I would respectfully remind those who may have listened to what Mitt Romney had to say that Mitt Romney holds no position in the government of the United States nor does he in any way speak for this country or her citizens. Enough about that.

A transcript of President Obama’s remarks follows the break.

The choice is clear

Mitt “Flip-Flop” Romney seems determined to say whatever he thinks people want to hear just so they will vote for him. This is not the kind of president our country needs, especially at this time in our history. We need a resolute, determined and honest man. The choice in this election could not be more clear.

Here, see for yourself…

First, Mitt Romney says he will repeal Obamacare on his first day in office. Now, as the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) begins to take effect and people are starting to realize how much it really helps them, Mitt Romney has flip-flopped and says that there are several parts of the law he will keep. Which is it, Mitt Romney? You cannot have it both ways.

One cannot help but wonder what other transformations are in store. Which of Mitt Romney’s seemingly endless personalities will be in charge come November 6?

“Coming Together to Remember September 11th”

From the White House weblog:

President Obama marks the eleventh anniversary of the September 11th attacks by remembering the innocent lives lost, and honoring the first responders and men and women in uniform who have served and sacrificed to keep our country safe.

In the difficult years following the attacks, the United States has come back stronger as a nation, decimated the leadership of al-Qaeda, ensured that Osama bin Laden will never attack America again, and strengthened our alliances across the world.

President Barack Obama accepted the nomination of the Democratic party to serve a second term as President of the United States last night. Here’s his acceptance speech…

Pay close attention to what he says. You may wish you had.

Vice President Joe Biden also accepted his nomination for a second term. His address was quite impressive…
