“Honoring Our Fallen Heroes this Memorial Day”

From the White House weblog:

In this week’s address, President Obama paid tribute to our men and women in uniform who have died in service to our country. The President also reaffirmed our nation’s dedication to serving our veterans as well as they have served us, and thanked our men and women in uniform for their unwavering commitment to the United States. As we come together on Memorial Day, we remind our military families and veterans that they are not alone, and give our thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice and helped make America the most prosperous and powerful nation on earth.

The Texas primary is six days away. I thought I would share with you just a bit of the silliness we are being bombarded with on television right now. This is the stuff that would get these folks laughed out of town up north, but folks down here eat it up.

This first ad comes from our current Lieutenant Governor, David Dewhurst. He wants the seat in the United States Senate being vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

See what I’m talking about?

Next is one of our esteemed State Supreme Court justices. He wants to be reelected to another term on the bench and wants to ensure that the people of Texas know where he stands on the issues and how he will rule on every case that comes before him.

Extreme much?

The last one I will inflict upon you is a lady who wants to be a Texas Railroad Commissioner. She wants you to know that she is ready and willing to “stand up to” the President of the United States.

How do these people come up with this crap. Better yet, how can anybody with any sense believe it? Finally, I really hope I’m in the room when Ms. Craddick stands up to President Obama. Entertainment of the year right there.

Gods save me. I don’t know how much more I can take.

“Congress Must Move Forward, Not Back On Wall Street Reform”

From the White House weblog:

In this week’s address, President Obama discussed Wall Street reform that he put in place to protect consumers, make Wall Street play by the same set of rules, and ensure that taxpayers are never again on the hook for the type of irresponsible behavior on Wall Street that nearly destroyed our financial system and cost the economy millions of jobs. While Republicans in Congress are still trying to delay and dismantle these critical Wall Street reforms, President Obama continues to urge Congress to finish implementing these reforms so that we can prevent excessive risk-taking and help create an economy that is built to last.

“Congress Must Act on “To-Do List””

From the White House weblog:

In this week’s address, President Obama called on Democrats and Republicans to come together and act on his Congressional “to-do list,” which will create jobs and help restore middle class security. In this make-or-break moment for the middle class, these five initiatives have bipartisan support and will help create an economy that is built to last. While some believe we should return to the same policies that led to the worst recession since the Great Depression, the President believes we must take action to speed up the recovery and ensure that our economy once again rewards hard work and responsibility as we keep our country moving forward.

President Obama officially kicked off his 2012 reelection campaign at a rally in Columbus, Ohio today. This video of the event was released by the campaign.

If the President’s remarks today were any indication, this is going to be an interesting campaign indeed.
