You’ve probably already seen this, but in case you have not I’m going to post it because you need to see it. This is the kind of people the Republicans are seriously considering running for the presidency of the United States. Here’s Herman Cain talking with the editorial board of a Milwaukee newspaper about the revolution in Libya…

This man could probably benefit from some tutoring time with Sarah “half-term” Palin.

UPDATE: In case you were wondering what was really “twirling around” in Herman Cain’s head…

“Honoring Our Veterans for Their Service and Sacrifice”

From the White House weblog:

In this week’s address, President Obama spoke from the USS Carl Vinson in San Diego during Veterans Day, and he called on all Americans to rededicate themselves to serving our brave men and women in uniform as well as they have served us. Today, there are more than 850,000 veterans unemployed, which is why the President issued a challenge to private companies to hire or train more than 100,000 post-9/11 veterans or their spouses by 2013, and he was pleased to see the Senate pass proposals in his American Jobs Act on Thursday to give businesses tax credits for hiring veterans. President Obama told veterans that just as they have fought for us, he will continue to fight for jobs and opportunities for them, and that the United States will always honor their service and sacrifice.

I did not watch the GOP Obama campaign ad (see previous post) last night, but if the following video is any representation of what went, on I am sorry I missed it.

If the drunken speech in New Hampshire a couple of weeks ago didn’t end Rick Perry’s campaign, his performance last night surely did…

Still in all, however, I do hope that people keep throwing money in his direction. The more time he spends outside of Texas, the less damage he can do here.

UPDATE: Mr. Perry has decided that the best way to handle his stupidity is to make fun of it. He thinks it makes him appear more “human.” He’ll be presenting the Top Ten List on Letterman tonight.

Republicans are holding yet another of what they are optimistically (and somewhat foolishly) calling “presidential debates” tonight. Cartoonist Mike Luckovich…

There will be yet another this coming Saturday evening.

I’ve said it here many times… Our Republicans really are a lot of fun.

Herman Cain held a press conference this afternoon. Standing in front of no less than four U. S. flags, he swore that never knew the four (soon to be five) women who are accusing him of sexual harassment (if not sexual assault). They are liars, he is not. This is all stuff made up by A) the media, B) other Republicans or C) the Democrats just to get him out of the race for the Republican nomination.

One thing that came out of today… Herman Cain definitely proved that Herman Cain is a Republican. He refuses to take responsibility for his actions. He is the only one telling the truth. He is the victim and everyone is out to get him. Yep, Republican all they way.

Things are going to get a lot worse for Herman Cain but I hope he can stick it out for a while longer. It’s fun to watch the Republicans twitch like this.

As most of you know, Rick Perry delivered an unusually animated speech in New Hampshire a week ago this past Friday. Some have gone so far as to say that he was either drunk or on drugs. It was a pretty safe bet that Saturday Night Live would be doing something on Perry’s speech. They did last night. Here’s SNL’s Bill Hader as Rick Perry on “Weekend Update.”

I don’t know for sure, but it seems that these Republican candidates are made out of teflon or something. Whatever they do just seems to bounce right off them as far as the Republican electorate is concerned. I mean Rick Perry shows up to give a speech obviously under the influence of something and the Republicans still think of him as a somewhat viable candidate. Herman Cain sexually harasses at least three women and the Republicans continue supporting him in the polls and throwing money in his direction. Mitt Romney flip-flops on every issue known to man and he’s still right up there with Cain. Thankfully, Santorum, Gingrich and Bachmann are done and out (though none of them seem to yet realize it).

Our Republicans are sure a fun lot, aren’t they?

“We Have to Increase the Pace”

From the White House weblog:

In this week’s address, Vice President Biden noted that this month’s jobs numbers demonstrated that Congress should pass the American Jobs Act to strengthen our economy and create jobs right away. Republicans in Congress have voted against components of the bill to put teachers and firefighters back to work and they have unanimously opposed a bill to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and create jobs for 400,000 construction workers, even though these are the kinds of programs they have supported in the past. The President is acting without Congress through executive actions to help our veterans find jobs, save families thousands of dollars by refinancing their mortgages, and reducing the cost of student loans, but that is not enough. Democrats and Republicans must come together to pass the American Jobs Act to strengthen the economy, because the American people can’t wait any longer for Congress to act.
