I’m sure you’ve heard the news by now about the deranged 21-year-old kid from Idaho who thought it would be fun to shoot a rifle at the White House. Well, the president of the College Republicans at the University of Texas thinks assassinating the president would be a cool joke…

Texas College GOP Leader: Obama Assassination ‘Tempting’

Hours after Pennsylvania State Police arrested a 21-year-old Idaho man for allegedly firing a semi-automatic rifle at the White House, the top student official for the College Republicans at the University of Texas tweeted that the idea of assassinating President Obama was “tempting.”

At 2:29 p.m. ET, UT’s Lauren E. Pierce wrote: “Y’all as tempting as it may be, don’t shoot Obama. We need him to go down in history as the WORST president we’ve EVER had! #2012.”

Pierce, the president of the College Republicans at UT Austin, told ABC News the comment was a “joke” and that the “whole [shooting incident] was stupid.” Giggling, she said that an attempted assassination would “only make the situation worse.”

“Insofar as she’s a representative [of the College Republicans], maybe it shouldn’t be said, but she’s made a positive statement in a way, ” said Cassie Wright, the group’s vice president.

“I don’t really see anything wrong with it,” Wright added. “It’s just a personal comment, not representative of any group. Just freedom of speech, you know?”

Cute. I hope Lauren enjoys her interview with the Secret Service. Oh, and I have a bit of news for her… The worst president we have ever had left office in January of 2009. Our current president is still trying to clean up his mess.

  1. As much as I loathed George Bush and just about everything he represented, I never wished that man or his family dead. I cannot believe the ignorance that spews from the mouths of some of our “future” and current leaders of our nation. Just sad and pathetic…

  2. Idiots like this do not see anything wrong with a republican president screwing things up.It is alway the democrats fault.

  3. George W. Bush is the worst president we NEVER elected. As far as the worst president we’ve ever had, I’d say it’s a toss up between Bush and Harding. Republican Warren G. Harding caused the Great Depression by catering to the business community and dishonest dealings (Teapot Dome). He was followed by Coolidge who continued his economy destroying policies. Of course neither one of them took the blame for the crashing economy. It all fell on poor Herbert Hoover, the president who inherited the mess. History repeats itself again. The difference, FDR initiated policies to fix the economy. He didn’t have Republican congressman who worked hard to make him fail.
