President Barack Obama has nominated the current Solicitor General of the United States, Elena Kagan, to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court. This is President Obama’s second nomination to the Court, following his selection of Justice Sonia Sotomayor last year. The announcement from the White House may be read here.
At just 50 years of age, Ms. Kagan will be the youngest member of the Court.
