Hillary Clinton is winning on the Democratic side, but it’s a symbolic victory at best. Michigan was stripped of all of its delegates to the Democratic National Convention because it broke party rules by having its primary so early. All of the major candidates, with the exception of Mrs. Clinton, had requested that their names be removed from the ballot. As of this writing, Clinton is leading Uncommitted 61% to 33%.
So Flipper Romney lives to fight another day. Hooray.
At a Michigan campaign event last night, Mike Huckabee gave an interesting reason for why he wants to amend the Constitution to ban both abortion and gay marriage: Otherwise, the Constitution would be in conflict with God.
Huckabee first observed that some of his opponents don’t want to amend the Constitution on both of these topics. “But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God,” Huckabee said. “And that’s what we need to do, is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards.”
I simply could not believe that my man Pastor Mike would really say something like that out in public where everybody (and God) could hear, so I went to YouTube and found the video. You can’t really see him, but there is no mistaking that voice.
Wow. He’s really out for the evangelical vote, isn’t he?
As you know if you’ve been keeping up here, I am all for Mike Huckabee winning the Republican nomination. I cannot imagine how the general election could be more fun (or an easier win for the Democratic nominee, whoever that turns out to be).
Please, Republicans, I’m begging you… Nominate Mike Huckabee for President in 2008!
P.S. If you really don’t want to nominate Mike, I’ll understand. John, Mitt or Rudy will do just as well.
